Nanomechanics Inc., Oakridge, Tennessee, USA, has announced the establishment of its Advanced Nanomechanical Characterisation Centre (ANCC) in Hyderabad, India. The ANCC is a joint technology development centre, established in partnership with the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), also based in Hyderabad.

The overall objective of the ANCC is to demonstrate the unique capabilities of Nanomechanics’ instruments and to enable fundamental and applied research in the area of small scale and surface mechanical characterisation. This is expected to lead to solutions to engineering problems, accelerated technology development and commercialisation.

“ARCI is at the forefront of materials research,” stated John Swindeman, Nanomechanics CEO. “We are looking forward to co-managing this development centre. It will bring Nanomechanics’ latest instrumentation to ARCI and will utilise the expertise of ARCI in advancing the fundamental understanding of materials research.”

“ARCI is excited to join hands with Nanomechanics in the development of cutting-edge nanomechanical testing methodologies,” added Dr G Padmanabham, Director at ARCI. “There is great interest among the Indian scientific community for such tools and the ANCC will certainly accelerate the growth of the nanomechanical testing marketplace in India.”

“As of this date, Nanomechanics’ has conducted its first joint workshop with ARCI and it was tremendously successful,” stated Warren Oliver, Ph.D., Nanomechanics President.
