Air Products to introduce new gas density sensor for sintering furnaces at POWDERMET2018

Air Products, Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, USA, will introduce its new gas density sensor for sintering furnaces during POWDERMET 2018, the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, to be held June 17-20 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The new sensor has been designed to measure the concentration of hydrogen in sintering furnaces that use a nitrogen-hydrogen blend as the hot zone atmosphere.

Continuous measurement and control of the sintering furnace atmosphere is increasingly important in helping metals processors improve quality control, reduce costs and comply with regulatory requirements. As part of POWDERMET’s Sintering Atmosphere Control technical session, Air Products’ Dr Liang He will present ‘Hot Zone Nitrogen-Hydrogen Atmosphere Monitoring with Gas Density Sensor’, June 19.

During his presentation, He will discuss the features and benefits of the company’s novel gas density sensor, including beta test results taken from continuously measuring the atmosphere in an industrial sintering furnace, for better production process control and consistent product quality.

As well as providing gases, equipment and technology solutions, Air Products’ technical specialists are said to offer applications knowledge and consulting services for a variety of processes, including powder production, sintering, heat treating, inerting and Additive Manufacturing. In addition to its headquarters in Lehigh, the company also operates laboratories in Allentown, Pennsylvania, for metal processing research and application development as well as testing for simulating, troubleshooting and optimising customer operations.
