Air Products has announced it will introduce a new process for accelerated cooling for sinter-hardening of low-alloy steels at PowderMet 2013 in Chicago, USA, June 24-27. The new process not only lowers material costs, but can also increase hourly production the company stated. Air Products will also introduce a new cold plasma technology that can eliminate intergranular oxidation when carburizing and hardening atmospheres.

In addition, Air Products’ Lisa Mercando, marketing manager for metals processing, will present lab and field test results in a technical paper titled “Evaluation of Accelerated Forced-convection Cooling Methods for Sinter-hardening of Low-alloy Steels.” This presentation will be given on Wednesday, June 26, at 8:00 am during Session 17, Sinterhardening: Material & Process Development.

Air Products will also highlight at PowderMet the company’s range of technical services, innovative equipment and technology solutions such as the company’s Atmosphere Humidification System for extended belt life and plasma-activated nitriding of stainless steels, and the full line of industrial gases available from the company.
