Belarus-India research centre to run projects worth $10m

A recently established Belarus-India research centre for new materials and technologies will bring together projects worth around $10 million, Alexander Iliushchenko, Director of the Powder Metallurgy Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Chief of the State Powder Metallurgy Association, announced in a statement issued by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.

Following a recent meeting between representatives from India their Belarusian partners, it was agreed to set up a joint centre to research new materials and technologies at the State Powder Metallurgy Association in Minsk, Belarus. The project will be financed by India (80%) and Belarus (20%), and a tentative agreement has been reached to implement some $10 million worth of projects in the near future.

This year the State Powder Metallurgy Association plans to export $4 million worth of products and services, $1 million of which is to be exported by the Powder Metallurgy Institute. To date, the State Powder Metallurgy Association has exported $2.8 million in products and services, $610,000 by the Powder Metallurgy Institute. The association exports to China, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic states, Canada, the USA and India.
