Ceratizit adds high-performance PCUT22 grade with low carbon footprint

Ceratizit, part of the Plansee Group and headquartered in Mamer, Luxembourg, introduced its new high-performance grade PCUT22 at Wire & Tube 2024, in Düsseldorf, Germany. The P-grade was developed to increase the lifetime of saw blades for metal cutting.

PCUT22 is said to offer an improved toughness-to-hardness ratio, with high transverse rupture strength (TRS). The grade is also reported to be highly resistant to mechanical and thermal wear – even under difficult machining conditions.

Developed in close collaboration with the Institute of Machine Tools (IfW) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, Ceratizit refined its PCUT22 by analysing the grade and its properties within an application-oriented approach on a high-end sawing machine. IfW reported impressive results compared to competing products on the market, showing a significantly longer lifetime in metal sawing applications.

As the first product of the company’s new P-grade family, PCUT22 also offers a sustainable solution due to its lower CO2 footprint. Its Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is classified B, instead of E or lower.
