Metaltest UK achieves accreditation from UKAS and expands services

Testing at Metaltest’s new metallurgical laboratory and testing facility at Milton Science Park, UK

Metaltest UK has announced the expansion of its operations with a new metallurgical laboratory and testing facility at Milton Science Park, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK. The ramp up in testing for the company, as a division of LTi Metaltech, follows accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

UKAS accreditation provides formal recognition and ensures quality assurance of reliable, credible and accurate testing. Metaltest UK’s extensive services comply with best practice to internationally recognised standards such as ASTM, BS EN ISO and ASME. Systems under this certification are assessed against EN ISO 17025, which incorporates quality requirements for testing and calibration within technical laboratories.

The testing organisation incorporates the customer portfolio of Caparo Testing Technologies in Witney, following its closure in 2015. The company provides bespoke metal testing solutions such as Tensile, Charpy, Hardness and Macro/Micro examinations to its customers in key sectors across the UK, delivering on custom requirements and quick turnaround times.

Metaltest UK is led by Phil Lacey, the Operations Director at LTi Metaltech, who stated “It is an exciting time to be at Metaltest UK. We are delighted to have achieved UKAS accreditation and our new laboratory is equipped with some of the testing industry’s best staff and facilities to provide a truly unmatched service for customers. Our business strategy is at a key turning point this year and we are looking forward to moving the company into new markets and further developing our range of state-of-the-art testing services.”
