Retsch Technology GmbH, Haan, Germany, has launched the fourth generation of its Camsizer system for particle size and particle shape analysis. The Camsizer P4 features include an extended measurement range from 20 µm to 30 mm, faster cameras with higher resolution as well as a particle library for direct storage of individual particle images.

camsizer

The Camsizer P4 is a compact laboratory instrument for simultaneous measurement of particle size distribution, particle shape and additional parameters of powders and granules. The system utilises dynamic image analysis through patented dual-camera technology.

The extended software functionalities now include an image library containing pictures and contours of each particle and its respective shape and size readings and a 3-dimensional diagram (3D Cloud scatterplot) of the analysis parameters. New particle shape descriptors allow for analysis of the roundness of particles.

The patented dual camera technology used by the Camsizer P4 and animations of the measurement procedure of dynamic image analysis can be seen in a new video. This not only explains the measurement technique and software features, such as the display of measurement results as 3D scatter plots, but also shows a variety of application areas as well as optional usage with an Autosampler and a process-line version.
