Short course on Atomisation for Metal Powders returns in 2018

Atomising Systems Ltd and Personal Development Advanced Courses (PERDAC), a division of CPFResearch Ltd, will hold their popular short course on atomisation for metal powders for the eleventh time in 2018. The two-day course will take place from March 8-9 in Manchester, UK.

The course will consist of presentations from John Dunkley (Chairman, Atomising Systems Ltd), Dirk Aderhold (Technical Director, Atomising Systems Ltd), Tom Williamson (Research Engineer, Atomising Systems Ltd), Doug Millington Smith (Principal Applications Specialist, Freeman Technology) and Andrew Yule (Emeritus Professor, Manchester University).

Developed for engineers working in metal powder production and/or R&D, the programme combines up-to-date practical information with theory. On the agenda are all current atomiser types and uses, key instrumentation, essential theory and computer modelling, and plant design, operation and economics.

The course programme is as followed:

Thursday 8th March

  • 10.30 – Fundamentals of Liquid Atomisation
  • 11.20 – Historical Perspective
  • 12.00 – Fundamentals of Melt Atomisation
  • 12.50 – Lunch
  • 13.35 – Screen Analysis and Data Interpretation
  • 13.55 – Gas Atomisation
  • 15.30 – Water Atomisation
  • 16.55 – Rotary, Ultrasonic & Other Techniques–I
  • 17.30 – End of Session

Friday 9th March

  • 8.45 – Rotary, Ultrasonic & Other Techniques-II
  • 9.25 – Measurement Techniques & Modelling
  • 11.05 – Ancillary Equipment
  • 12.05 – Operation & Economics of Plant
  • 12.35 – Lunch
  • 13.15 – Additive Manufacturing
  • 13.45 – Needs of Different Metals
  • 14.45 – ‘Toolkit’ for Atomising System Improvement
  • 15.30 – End of Course
