“We are excited to provide our customers in the Southeastern US with another regional solution for aerospace and defence thermal processing,” stated Steve Prout, president of Solar Atmospheres’ Greenville facility. “This approval allows us to save our customers time and money while maintaining the exceptional quality they expect.”

The Pratt & Whitney approval is seen as a significant milestone, positioning the Western PA facility as a top choice for customers requiring thermal processing that meets Pratt & Whitney’s standards. The facility is now certified to perform heat treatments for P&W’s Suffix 17, “Precipitation Harden,” and Suffix 22, “Austenitize, Quench, and Temper.”

Justin Hoffman, Quality Manager at Solar Atmospheres of Western PA, added, “Hermitage is thrilled to join other Solar locations in achieving Pratt & Whitney approvals for heat treating non-rotor parts. With our specialised furnaces and unique capabilities, we are prepared to process parts immediately for precipitation hardening, austenitising, quenching, and tempering. Looking ahead, we anticipate expanding our approved capabilities and remain committed to supporting Pratt & Whitney with unparalleled customer service and heat-treating expertise.”
