The new plant is a 15,500 m2 facility for the mass-production of the companies TAC inserts. Tungaloy manufactures a wide range of cemented carbide cutting tools and has extensive line up of TAC inserts with combinations of various grades, dimensions and chipbreakers.

The opening ceremony, originally scheduled for March this year but delayed due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, took place on November 21 and was attended by Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, the major investor in Tungaloy’s parent company, IMC International Metalworking Companies B.V.

“It is an innovative plant whose concept is completely different from the traditional one, and it will contribute not only to development of our company but also to growth of the whole IMC group,” stated Tungaloy.
