Volkmann GmbH, a developer of powder handling systems, headquartered in Soest, Germany, has released a video demonstrating how its filling stations work. The displayed system is used by a metal powder manufacturer to dispense powder into bottles and transport containers.

Volkmann explains that each powder filling station is tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of the customer.

Creating these bespoke systems requires consideration of the various sizes and shapes of bottles and closures. The filling systems also require safe handling of the powder and precise dosing of the specified weight into the bottle, Volkmann states.

As fine metal powders can be explosive, the systems must also be explosion-proof. For this, Volkmann’s systems operate in accordance with ATEX directives.

The filling process can also vary from customer to customer. For example, some users want the bottle to be purged with an inert gas (such as argon) in order to displace the air or reduce the oxygen content.
