Volkswagen to partially reopen its manufacturing plant in Spain

April 7, 2020

Volkswagen has announced plans to partially reopen its factory based in Pamplona, Spain, on April 20, after its closure in March due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), a spokesman for the plant stated on Tuesday, reports Automotive News Europe

The plant, which is said to employ approximately 4,800 workers, builds the Polo small-segment hatchback and T-Cross small SUV, according to Automotive News Europe’s Assembly Plant Map. It is expected to reopen with one of its three daily shifts operating during four days in the first week, with the aim to extend it to two shifts the following week, depending on how well the supply chain works, the spokesman stated. It is believed that all workers will wear masks and gloves, and the plant’s disinfection would be intensified.
