ZF expands powertrain production capacity at its Indian facility

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, has broken ground on the extension of its regional headquarters in Chakan, Pune, India, reports Autocar Professional. With the expansion, the company expects to produce more truck and van drivelines, powertrain and chassis modules from 2020 onward.

The Pune facility was inaugurated in 2015, and its 16,770 m2 of space is now fully utilised with the commercial vehicle, car powertrain and aftermarket business. The new production complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and offer an additional 4,000 m2 of space to accommodate further production and warehousing activities.

Holger Klein, Member of Board of Management, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, stated, “This investment is a strong signal for the region and the commitment to grow business in the region, India is an important growth market for ZF and therefore we are expanding our presence here.”

Suresh KV, Head of ZF India Pvt. Ltd., added, “With this investment into new building infrastructure we assure that we will be able to fulfil growing customer demands in future.”
